Terms of Use
Last updated: 15 September 2026
Neo Quiz is a free, open-source application by Ahmed Mili that turns your notes into interactive quizzes: a Windows and Linux desktop app. These terms apply to the application, its installer and this website. By installing or using Neo Quiz you accept them.
1. Licence
Neo Quiz is distributed under the MIT License. You may use, copy, modify and redistribute it, for any purpose, as long as the licence notice stays with it. Nothing in these terms restricts what the licence grants.
2. No warranty
The software is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind. It is written and maintained by one person, in the open. To the extent permitted by law, the author is not liable for any loss arising from its use, including loss of notes or quiz data. Keep your own backups of the folders you open in Neo Quiz.
3. Your content
Your notes, quizzes, answers and review history are yours. They stay in the folders you choose on your own device; Neo Quiz has no server and never uploads them. See the Privacy Policy for exactly what is stored where.
4. Third-party AI tools
Quiz generation is optional and runs through tools you install and configure yourself: Claude Code CLI (Anthropic), Codex CLI (OpenAI) or Ollama (on your machine, or Ollama’s cloud models). Each of them is governed by its provider’s own terms, requires your own account or subscription, and bills you directly where applicable. Neo Quiz only passes them what you ask it to generate, and only when you ask.
5. Updates
The desktop app checks GitHub for a newer release when it starts, downloads it in the background and installs it the next time it closes. You can turn this off in Settings; the installer and the update mechanism only ever fetch files published on the project’s GitHub releases.
6. Fair use
Do not use Neo Quiz to break the law or the terms of the AI providers you connect to it. If you distribute a modified version, make clear that it is not the official one.
7. Changes
These terms may change as the software evolves. The current version is always this page, with its date above; using Neo Quiz after a change means you accept the updated terms.
8. Contact
Questions and requests go through the project’s GitHub issues.
